Hyundai recalls 94,000 Genesis models over power seat fire risk
27 October 2026 · Anthony Sharkey , Chief Operating Officer, Unison Automotive Limited
Hyundai has issued a recall covering approximately 94,000 Genesis models after two separate fire incidents were reportedly connected to a fault with the power seat switches, according to a trade report.
The concern centres on damage to the seat switch mechanism. When a switch is damaged, it appears to create conditions that can lead to a fire starting in the seat area. Because of this, owners of affected vehicles have been advised to park outside rather than in a garage or other enclosed structure until the issue is resolved.
The recall is at an early stage and has not yet been confirmed through official channels. Drivers who believe their Genesis model may be affected should watch for any official communication from Hyundai and avoid using enclosed parking in the meantime as a straightforward precaution.
This is not a fault that drivers should attempt to address themselves. Any inspection or replacement of a damaged seat switch is a job for a qualified technician, and owners should wait for formal recall guidance before taking any other action.
